Sunbury, Pennsylvania - Betty J. Smith, 81, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born to Paul and Violet (Becker) Shenk, Betty was a graduate of Annville-Cleona High School in Pennsylvania. She lived a life centered on family, hard work, and simple joys.
Betty shared 62 years of marriage with her devoted husband, Olan D. Smith. Together, they built a loving family that will carry on her memory.
She is survived by her husband, Olan; her children, Anita (Larry) Klock, Deb (John) Clark, Monica (Michael) Weiser, and Brian Smith; her many cherished grandchildren: Jarret (Julie) Clark, Bryson Weiser, Sarah Smith, Collin (Laura) Smith, Caleb (Catherine) Smith, Anna (Ethan) Snyder, Laura Smith, Isaac Smith, Joshua Smith, Emma Smith, and Nathan Smith; as well as great-grandchildren Emily Smith and Noah Smith.
Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Williams; her brother, Marlin Shenk; and her daughter-in-law, Lisa Smith.
Betty worked at Sunbury Textile Mills from 1977 until her retirement in 2000. She was known for her strong work ethic and dedication.
In her free time, Betty enjoyed playing cards and visiting casinos — pastimes that brought her much happiness and laughter with family and friends.
She will be remembered for her love of family, her resilience, and the many memories she created with those she held dear. Betty's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A viewing will be held Friday, April 17, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, where the funeral service will be held at 11 with Pastor Roy Clippinger and Pastor Gregory Clendaniel officiating.
Burial will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
