Bernice A. Bordner Obituary

Bernice A. Bordner, 93, of Herndon, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.


She was born May 25, 1931, in Greenbrier, the daughter of the late George and Edna (Treon) Mattern. Bernice was married to Raymond Bordner for 61 years, until his passing in 2011.


She was a lifetime member of Himmel's Church and a member of Himmel's Women of the Church.


Bernice was a seamstress and continued her craft throughout her years, working in various factories and continuing in her ministry for the church making school bags and pillow case dresses. She was also involved in the Prayer & Care group, which visited the shut-ins.


Besides sewing, quilting, canning and homemaking, she enjoyed spending time with her entire family — children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren


She is survived by her three children, Steven R. (Pamelia) Bordner, Millersburg, Michael A.H. (Ruthanna) Bordner, Klingerstown, and JoAnn B. (Eric) Bordner-Kieffer, Herndon; daughter-in-law, Karen Bordner, Millersburg; sister, Leda Kahler, Northumberland; grandchildren, Julie (Tim) Tressler, Trevorton, Kelly (Jason) Blake, Oxford, Conn., Holly (Levi) Klock, Sunbury, Seth (Michelle) Bordner, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; Rebecca (Trevor) Eisenhart, Liverpool, Laura Bordner (Brok Phillips), Rebuck, Myah Smeltz, New York, Alyssa Smeltz, Millersburg, and Grace Kieffer, Herndon; great-grandchildren, Jackson Kauwell, Rowan Bordner, Avery Bordner, Abigail Blake and Carter Klock.


She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas G. Bordner.


A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at Himmel's Church, 107 Covered Bridge Road, Dornsife, PA 17867, officiated by Rev. Jane Compton.


Burial will follow the services in the church graveyard. Attendees are invited to share condolences and fellowship in the church social hall after the burial.


The family requests that memorial donations be made to Himmel's Church.
