Beatrice S. Shade Obituary

Beatrice S. Shade, 100, of Route 225, Dornsife, formerly of Elizabethville, passed away Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, at Mountain View Nursing and Rehab Center, Coal Township.

She was the daughter of of the late Harvey and Blanche (Hepner) Deppen. She was married to Allen L. Shade who preceded her in death.


Beatrice was a farm wife and a member of Peace United Church of Christ and was a former Sunday school teacher and Bible school member.


Beatrice is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Lily Shade, of Elizabethville; one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and William Keiter, of Dornsife; five grandchildren, Crystal Stianche, Todd Shade, Sherri Keiter-Reed, Susan Enders and Jody Keiter; six great-grandchildren, Brandon, Kaitlin, Garrett, Rachel, Gavin and Casey; and one brother, James Deppen.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Jason Shade; five brothers, Harold, Forest, Charles, Elwood and William Deppens; and her companion of 20 years, Herman "George" Micka.


A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home in Elizabethville, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Jeff Wagner officiating.

Burial will follow in Sweitzers Memorial Cemetery, Berrysburg.
