Lewisburg - Barbara L. Hilferty, 93, of Lewisburg, passed away on July, 23, 2026, at Buffalo Valley Skilled Nursing in Lewisburg. Barb was so many things to so many people and will be missed for her beautiful smile, snow white hair and her effervescent personality.

Barb was born Aug. 6, 1932, in Lewistown, Pa. She was the daughter of Clinton H. Jacobs and Dorothy G. (Jacobs) Landis. She was a 1950 graduate Lewistown High School. Barb was the head majorette her senior year.

Barb is survived by a step sister Pamela J (Kupppel) Fultz of Lewistown; three sons, Charles (Cindy) of Emmaus, Pa., Brian (Natalie)of Glenville, Pa., and Christopher of Bismark, N.D., plus nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition, Barb is survived by her loving cat, Bella.

Barb married C Joseph Shaffer (Joe) of Lewistown, Pa., and they moved to Lewisburg in 1962. She was a devoted mother and homemaker as well as a co-owner of the popular Temperance House Restaurant in Lewisburg. Barb loved golfing, playing bridge and beating the grandchildren in Chinese Checkers. In addition, she loved vacations in Ocean City, N.J., shopping, sunflowers, cheese and crackers and a good martini. Barb is a member Christ's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewisburg.

Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 1 at the John H Shaw Funeral Home, 801 Market St., Lewisburg. Afterwards, a graveside service will be held in the Lewisburg Cemetery.
