Arlene M. (Mayo) Willard Obituary

Arlene M. (Mayo) Willard, 85, of 1534 Spring Knoll Court, Harrisburg, former longtime resident of Sunbury, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born July 8, 1932, in Lewiston, Maine, the oldest daughter of the late Lawrence F. and Teresa A. (Sullivan) Mayo.

On June 10, 1950, she married Robert G. Willard who died March 2012 breaking a union of nearly 62 years.

Arlene's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing and especially quilting. She hand made quilts for all her children and many of her extended family. She loved flowers!

She was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, Harrisburg.

She is survived by nine children, Robert L. Willard, of Birmingham Ala., Lawrence C. Willard, of Brewster, N.Y., Bonita A. Reichenbach, with whom she lived, of Harrisburg, Teresa A. Maust and husband David, of Selinsgrove, Mark A. Willard and husband Russell Parrott, of Phoenix, Md., Tina L. Leitzel, of Selinsgrove, Eileen E. Cook and husband Timothy, of Selinsgrove, Tammy C. Meeker and husband Joseph, of Mocksville, N.C., and David G. Willard and wife Jennifer, of Palmyra; 18 grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Giffin, of Florida, and Kathleen Algerio-Picardo, of Nevada; brother, Michael Mayo, of Florida; sisters-in-law, Julie Mayo, of Northumberland, and MaryAnn Mayo, of N.J.; brother-in-law, Richard Willard and his wife Norma, of Sunbury; cousins and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Beside her husband, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Nicole Willard; four brothers, William, Thomas, Lawrence, and John Mayo; and brother-in-law, Lester O. Willard.

Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home Inc., 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Saturday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 112 Fairview Drive, Selinsgrove, with Fr. Tukura Pius Michael, O.P. officiating. Interment will follow at the Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury.
