Arlene K. Kieffer, 91, of Dornsife, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.

She was born Oct. 21, 1927, in Dornsife, a daughter of the late Gertie (Kehres) and Norman Peifer. She was married to Robert M. Kieffer who preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 2007.

Arlene was a loving homemaker and helped get vegetables ready for market.

She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and looked forward to outside picnics. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting and will be remembered for her cooking and baking.

Arlene is survived by one daughter, Judy, wife of Ron Updegrove, and two sons, Steven, husband of Diane Kieffer, and Glen Kieffer, all of Dornsife; seven grandchildren, Shane (Heather) Kieffer, Shannon (Bridgette) Kieffer, Samuel (Margaret) Kieffer, Brian (Jennifer) Updegrove, Kevin Updegrove, Mary (Nick) Fasano and Dwight Kieffer, 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was the last surviving of her siblings and was preceded in death by nine sisters, Hilda Beissel, Carrie Peifer, Sarah Straub, Hannah Peifer, Helen Ferster, Annabelle Long, Lena Hoover, Elda Snyder, Catherine DeLong; and five brothers, Raymond, Melvin, Clayton, John, and William Peifer.

A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at Himmel's Church, followed by the funeral at 11, with Pastor Jane Compton officiating.

Interment will follow in Himmel's Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Buffalo Lutheran Village for their exceptional care of Arlene while she resided there.
