New Columbia, PA - Ardis L. Burfield, 89, of New Columbia, died on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at her home.

Born December 8, 1936, in New Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Cloyd V. Huff and Sara P. (Buss) Koch. On February 16, 1957, she married Starling L. "Bud" Burfield who predeceased her on September 9, 2000. Together they celebrated 43 years of marriage.

Ardis was a graduate of the former Watsontown High School. She worked a few jobs early in life but spent most of her adult years raising and caring for her family.

Ardis was a member of White Deer Faith Chapel where she helped cook meals or assist with other church activities. She also volunteered helping with the White Deer Community Park.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Richard Kugel, of Scio, OR; one brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Joyce Huff, of New Columbia; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Fernando Fernandez, of Milton and Maureen and Wesley Wagner, of Strasburg; and one grandson, Nathaniel Kugel.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her stepfather, Ned Koch.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 16, in Highland Cemetery, New Columbia, with Pastor Robert O. Rice, officiating.
