April Woods Harris, 68, of Danville, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 17, 2024, at her residence.

She was born April 24, 1955, in Long Branch, New Jersey, a daughter of the late Walter A. Woods and June (Maier) Woods. April was raised in Monmouth County, New Jersey, and graduated from Middletown High School in 1973. She attended Lycoming College and graduated in 1978 with a degree in business.

April was married to her husband of 45 years, Jan E. Harris, on July 8, 1978, at Navesink United Methodist Church, Middletown Township, New Jersey.

April moved to Danville with her husband in 1979 and built a life centered on her growing family. Her life revolved around the activities of her sons, whether it was being a team mother for AYSO soccer teams, Cub Scout den leader, group leader at Camp Lavigne Cub Scout Camp or serving as an elementary home room mother. April attended Trinity United Methodist Church and St. Peter's United Methodist Church and was involved in many church activities, including teaching Vacation Bible School, serving meals and working in the food bank.

April worked in retail and banking prior to starting her family and at Panera Bread in her later years.

In addition to her husband, April is survived by her five sons and their families, the Rev. Andrew (Megan) Burd-Harris, Middletown, Pa., Active Air Force Lt. Col. Daniel (Cindy) Harris, Woodbridge Va., Timothy (Emily) Harris, Danville, Jonathan (Chelsea) Harris, Sinking Springs, Pa., and Matthew (Chloe) Harris, Danville. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Emma Belle, Kate, Eliza, Alice, Owen and David, as well as a baby girl due in April.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Walter A. Woods III.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
