Annabelle Rogers
Annabelle Rogers, 92, of Laporte, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Highlands Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.
Born March 15, 1933, in San Antonio, Texas, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Helen (James) Thomas.
After graduating from Lewisburg High School in 1951, she attended Susquehanna University, where she spent the next four years studying economics and obtained her bachelor degree in 1955. As time went on, Annabelle met the love of her life, James "Jim" Rogers Jr., who she was married to for 71 years until her passing. In her free time, she loved to travel in her younger years with Jim, volunteering, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Jim and Annabelle both became owner/operators of Rogers Huber and Associates CPA until their retirement. Outside of work, she volunteered her time and she was a member of the Union County Children and Youth Committee, Lewisburg School Board for six years, Dushore Music Chorus, Repasz and New Horizon band for over 20 years, Eastern Star, and the past treasurer for the Sullivan County Historical Society. Annabelle truly loved the rural mountains of Sullivan County and especially the community of Laporte and Lake Makoma. She gave back to the Laporte community by participating in the Laporte Women's Club, Laporte Republican's Committee, Laporte Borough Council, and the Laporte United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband James "Jim" Rogers Jr., of Laporte; two sons, James (Barbara) Rogers, III, of Bear Creek, and Richard Rogers, of Lewisburg; a daughter, Sharon (Dennis) Rogers-Barron, of Upper Gwynedd; a son-in-law, Dag Fergestad, of Trondheim, Norway; seven grandchildren, J. Coulter Rogers, Luke (Jody) Rogers, Sadler Rogers, Emily Rogers, Halvor (Hanna Slotte) Fergestad, Grant (Patricia) Rogers, and Katherine (Max) Medina; a sister-in-law, Slyvia Smith, of Raleigh, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Annabelle was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Rogers-Fergestad; a daughter-in-law, Jamie Rogers; a brother, Fred Thomas Jr.; two sisters, Alice Jones and Helen Rogers; and a brother-in-law, Dale Smith.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Laporte United Methodist Church, 723 Main St. Laporte, Pa., with Rev. Robert W. Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Ash Cemetery.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
