Ann L. Ballantine, 68, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024 with her family by her side.
She was born Dec. 6, 1955, in Shamokin, a daughter of the late Lewis and Julia (Mikus) Ballantine.
Ann resided in Shamokin, Pa., during her early childhood. She relocated with her family to Middleburg, Pa., in the 1960s. She attended school in both Shamokin and Middleburg. She resided in Middleburg for most of her adult life and then relocated to Selinsgrove, Pa., in her later years.
As a young adult, Annie was employed in the kitchen at the Dutch Pantry, Selinsgrove. She went on to work at SUNCOM industries for more than 25 years. Annie looked forward to going to work each day and was a dedicated employee.
Annie and her parents were involved in developing local chapters of The Arc to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She remained an active member of The Arc Susquehanna Valley. She participated in Special Olympics and competed in basketball and swimming. She attended Camp Victory for several summers. She enjoyed making music in a drumming circle. Annie was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
Throughout her adulthood, Annie was an avid Midd-West sports fan. Annie enjoyed traveling, errands with her family, dining, music, scrapbooking and keeping her home tidy. She loved her family, all dogs, Knoebels, spaghetti, posters and holidays.
Annie was a teacher. Her special lessons touched the lives of her family, friends, acquaintances and professionals. She led by example and taught the importance of unconditional love, compassion, humor and advocacy for the needs of all people.
Annie is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Cindy Ballantine, of Selinsgrove; two nieces and their families: Lindsay and Jesse Pyers and children, Grant, Margaret and Rosine; Kara and Bill Zimmerman and children, Edie and Samuel; one uncle, Leo Mikus, of Reading, Pa., and several cousins. She was preceded in death by a special aunt, Dorothy Kramer, of Shamokin, Pa.
Burial services will be private with the Rev. Joshua Cavender officiating.
