Alton D. Phillips Obituary

Alton D. Phillips, son of the late Roy and Betty Phillips was born on June 27, 1948 in Lewistown and passed away peacefully on June 24, 2024 surrounded by family.

He is survived by his loving wife Kathryn, daughter Molly, granddaughters Lila and Juliette in addition to his cousin Pam and her husband Cook Zimmerman and many more friends and family.

Al was a 1966 East Juniata High School graduate and went on to graduate from Penn State University.

Al served his country in the Army National Guard for 35 years. "Art," as many affectionately called him, was a high school art and photography teacher in the Midd-West school district for many years; he was loved by his students.

Family, church and community were all important to Al. He served his church family in many leadership roles and regularly supported various ministries in the church. He served on the board of the MACC (Middlecreek Area Community Center) and supported the MACC from its inception.

Al enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, driving his Corvettes around town, watching his favorite John Wayne westerns and NASCAR racing and making sure the dogs were fed at 5pm sharp. When he wasn't napping in front of the TV, "Albert," as his wife affectionately called him, could be found drinking coffee at the restaurant.

A viewing will be held from 6-8 pm on Sunday, June 30 at Christ Church of Beaver Springs, 800 Center Ave., Beaver Springs, followed by the funeral on Monday, July 1 at 10 am with Pastor Jim Matthews officiating.

Burial with full military honors accorded by the Middle-West Veterans Honor Guard will be held in Adamsburg Cemetery, Beaver Springs.

Al's celebration of life, with visitation and reception, will be held at the Phillips' home immediately following the internment.

Arrangements are by the Kreamer Funeral Home, 130 S. Zechman St., Beavertown.
