Albert Golfieri Obituary

White Deer, Pennsylvania - Albert J. Golfieri, 87, of White Deer, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in New York City on March 8, 1938, to the late Duilio E. and Elizabeth M. (Villa) Golfieri. On June 25, 1959, Albert married the former Kay E. Shaffer who survives and together they would have celebrated a marital union of 66 years.

Albert graduated from Milton High School in 1956 and attended Bucknell University as well as Harrisburg Area Community College. He was an Air Force veteran. As a young man, Albert worked in the family restaurant, known to many as The Broadway Lunch in Milton. He was employed for 28 years by Continental Can Company in Milton until the plant's closing and later was employed by ConAgra from where he retired. Albert was a member of Masonic Lodge 401 in Watsontown and the Williamsport Consistory.

Albert was instrumental in advocating for local government and passionately served on local boards making a positive impact for our local community. Albert was recognized for 20 years of service as chairman of the Redevelopment Authority Board of Union County and served on the Union County Housing Authority from 1972-77. He also served on the White Deer Township Sewer Authority, and you could find him in attendance at many local school board meetings. He is also known for his many controversial letters to the editor.

Albert was an avid hunter, gun collector, and enjoyed reloading shells and mowing his grass. Another favorite pastime was his daily breakfast with friends. When he was younger, Albert enjoyed traveling. A memorable road trip was taking his family cross country in the family station wagon. He and his wife traveled to Italy, Russia (the former USSR) in 1981, China, Australia and New Zealand. He loved life, enjoying his espresso, a nice glass of wine, and sharing a good meal with family. He loved his family visiting and congregating around his kitchen table.

He is survived by his wife, Kay; two sons, Craig A. Golfieri (Patricia) of Florida, and David A. Golfieri, of Watsontown; and daughter Denise K. Turpack, (Michael) of Lewisburg. Five grandchildren: Angela Golfieri, Alexander Golfieri (Rachel), Alyssa Golfieri-DeCarlo (Anthony), Christian Golfieri (Brittney), Britt Turpack, and five great-grandchildren.
