Alan Barrick Obituary

Lewisburg, Pennsylvania - Alan Lee Barrick, 86, of Lewisburg, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026. Born on May 13, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Albert and Ruth Barrick. Alan lived a life defined by devotion to his family, dedication to his work, and a generous commitment to the communities he called home.

Alan pursued his education at Washington University in St. Louis, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. His academic training laid the foundation for a distinguished career in the Grocery Industry that would span decades and leave a lasting mark on the organizations he served. In 1972, Alan joined Weis Markets, where he built a remarkable career over more than 36 years. Rising through the ranks with characteristic attention to detail, he ultimately retired in 2008 as vice president of Engineering and Manufacturing. Never one to sit idle, Alan then turned his talents to supporting his wife, Martha, at her real estate brokerage.

Alan and Martha A. Barrick shared a remarkable marriage of 65 years, a union built on love, mutual respect, and unwavering partnership. Together, they created a home filled with warmth and purpose, raised three children and built a family that remained at the center of Alan's world throughout his life. He loved his grandchildren dearly, and his pride in them was evident to all who knew him.

Alan was deeply engaged in the Lewisburg community. He served on the boards of local charities and volunteered at many others, including First Baptist Church of Lewisburg, the Lewisburg Cemetery Association, and Campus Theatre, LTD. His leadership and volunteerism reflected a genuine belief in the importance of civic engagement and service to others. He also did not take himself too seriously, as his annual performance as one of Santa's elves at the Christmas program at the Campus Theatre and as Ben Franklin in Lewisburg's Victorian Christmas Parade proved. Alan was also an avid tennis player who continued playing on the court well into his eighties, a testament to both his physical vitality and his competitive spirit.

Alan found spiritual grounding and fellowship through his longtime membership at First Baptist Church of Lewisburg, where he served for many years as the chairman of the Property Committee, overseeing improvements to its facilities. His service to the church was an expression of the values that guided his life, including generosity, humility, and care for others. His family takes comfort in knowing that he rests now in the peace and grace he held dear.

Alan is survived by his beloved wife, Martha A. Barrick of Lewisburg; his son, Brett Barrick and partner, Victoria Young; his son, Curtis Barrick, and spouse, Sabra Karr; his daughter, Anna Barrick and her spouse, Greg Beauseigneur; and his seven grandchildren, Linsdey and Lexi Barrick, Hobie and Andy Beauseignuer, and Elena, Sam and Will Barrick. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Barrick, his mother, Ruth Barrick, and his sister, Linda Schow.

A service celebrating Alan's life will be held at First Baptist Church of Lewisburg on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11 a.m., with Minister Mackenzie Scott and Minister John Colatch officiating. The family kindly invites all who knew and loved Alan to join them in honoring a life well lived. A private graveside service will follow.
