Troy D. Horning, 52, of Richfield, entered into rest on Tuesday evening, June 6, 2017, in the emergency room at the Sunbury Community Hospital. His passing was sudden and unexpected.
He was born Oct. 23, 1964, in Lewistown, a son of Lorene D. (Varner) Horning, of McAlisterville, and the late Donald Merrill Horning. He was married to the former Angela S. "Angie" Hoover who survives. The couple were married for 14 years.
Troy was a graduate of East Juniata High School and Mifflin-Juniata Vocational School in Lewistown. Troy was an Air Force veteran serving from 1982 to 1986.
He was employed by Local 520 Plumber and Pipefitters Union, Harrisburg.
Troy was a former Boy Scout. He enjoyed muscle cars, corvettes and the outdoors. He was known as "Popeye."
In addition to his wife and mother, Troy is survived by his stepson, Maxwell Young and his wife, Sarah, of Michigan; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Tammy and Michael Casey, of Millerstown and Tiffany and Mike Renninger, of Mifflintown; nieces and nephews; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Larry and Barbara Hoover, of Richfield.
There will be no viewing. Friends and family are invited to the visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills, followed by a memorial service at 7. There will be a flag presentation and playing of Taps at the end of the memorial service by the Selinsgrove American Legion Victory Post No. 25 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6631. Officiating will be Interim Pastor Paul Kampa.
