Timothy A. Varndell, 69, of High Road, Shamokin, passed away on Nov. 29, 2016, surrounded by his family, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born Aug. 13, 1947, in Sunbury, a son of the late Herman C. and Marian C. Long Varndell.
Tim was a 1965 graduate of Selinsgrove High School. Following high school, he served with the Marine Corps in Vietnam as a special operations helicopter gunner, attaining the rank of corporal.
Tim was a self-employed truck driver for 35 years, operating Varndell Trucking Co.
He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Lavelle, and the Sunbury Lodge 22, Free and Accepted Masons.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Rose Ann Varndell; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Kimberly and Greg Riley, of Williamsburg, Va., Lisa Harris, of Newport News, Va., Brenda Schweitzer, of Shamokin, and Cheryl and Robert Muno, of Evanston, Ill.; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Timm Dressler, of Carson City, Nev., Roland Weikel, of Dushore, and Leonard and Tammy Weikel, of Greenville, Ky.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Mark and Cheryl Varndell, of Gordon, and Joel Varndell, of Selinsgrove; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and his dog and best friend, Chloe.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Chris.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, with a Masonic funeral service at 6:30 conducted by the Ashland Lodge 294, followed by the funeral at 7, at the Church of the Nazarene, 2879 Fairgrounds Road, Lavelle, with the Rev. Jeremy Smallwood officiating.
