Thelma M. Hetrick, 95, of Sunbury, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at the Geisinger Medial Center, Danville.
She was born Jan. 10, 1921, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Morris and Lillian (George) Yordy. She was married to John Hetrick who preceded her in death in 2002.
She was employed by Miller's Furniture Store and last by the Northumberland County Soil Conservation District where she worked with her best friend, Erma. The two of them also spent many nights baking and sold the baked goods at the Shamokin Farmers' Market. Typically they sold out in a very short time.
She was a 60-year member of United Lutheran Church at Wolf's Crossroads.
She is survived by four children, two sons and daughters-in-law, Kurt and Bonnie Hetrick, of Williamsport, and Thomas and Heather Hetrick, of Sunbury, and two daughters and one son-in-law, Ann and Steven VanHorn, of New Berlin and Jill Kreischer, of Sunbury; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at United Lutheran Church, Wolfe's Crossroads, followed by the funeral at 11.
Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers friends are asked to make donations in Thelma's memory to the memorial fund of United Lutheran Church, 167 Seven Points Road, Sunbury.
Arrangements are by the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.
