The Rev. Peter's Story
The Rev. Peter H. Kuebler, 75, of Mechanicsburg, entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 17, 2017, at the Select Specialty Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born Aug. 30, 1941, in Philadelphia, a son of the late Charles S. and Virginia (Coleman) Kuebler. He was married for 54 years to the former Judith Tuma who survives.
Pastor Kuebler was a 1959 graduate of Summit Hill High School, Summit Hill, Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove with a bachelor of arts degree in 1963, and from the Lutheran School of Theology, Gettysburg, with a master of Divinity degree in 1966.
Pastor Kuebler served as pastor of Christ (Filey) Lutheran Church, Dillsburg from 1966-1968; associate pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Camp Hill from 1968-1975; pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, Marysville from 1977-1981; associate pastor of Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro from 1981-1986; and pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Steelton from 1986 until 1997 when he retired on disability. In retirement, he served St. John (Barner's) Lutheran Church, Liverpool. He provided interim pastoral services to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Millersville and Trinity Lutheran Church, Lemoyne. He was a member of St. John (Barner's) Lutheran Church and at the time of his passing was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Mechanicsburg.
He served the Central Pennsylvania Synod as a member of the Committee on Parish Life and its subcommittee on Evangelicalism and a member of the Committee on Stewardship. He was an active member of the Camp Hill and Liverpool Ministerium as well as the West Shore, Perry, and Harrisburg Conferences. He was the Chaplain Coordinator for Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, and the Harrisburg Area Council of Churches. He served as Chaplain to the Pennsylvania Farmer's Association, and of the 1969 Pennsylvania Legislative Session. He was the West Shore District Chair for Key 73 and member-at-large of the Camp Hill Citizens' Council.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children and their spouses, Peter H. II and Dorene Kuebler, Andrew S. and Evelyn Kuebler, Michael S. Kuebler, and Lian M. Kuebler; grandaugthers, Lily and Brittany; and great-granddaugthers, McKenzie and Isabella.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Frederick C. Kuebler.
Friends and family are invited to the visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 117 W. Keller St., Mechanicsburg. A service of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John (Barner's) Lutheran Church, 5 Barner Road, Liverpool, with the Rev. Nancy Knol officiating. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in loving memory of Pastor Kuebler to St. John (Barner's) Lutheran Church, 5, Barner Road, Liverpool, PA 17045.
The George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 606 N. Front St., Liverpool have been entrusted with the arrangements.
