Stanley P. "Stoney" Szulanczyk, 92, of 261 Verna Road, Lewisburg, passed away at his home early Saturday morning, April 29, 2017.
A native of Shenandoah, he was born May 7, 1924, a son of the late Isadore and Mary (Gorski) Szulanczyk. He was married to the former Rose Marie O'Brien on July 8, 1950 and his death breaks a marital union of 66 years.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the Pacific Theater with the Army Air Corps.
Stanley was a graduate of the McCann School of Business. For 30 years, Stanley was an account at the US Penitentiary in Lewisburg.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Lewisburg, where he sang in the choir and was an usher.
Stanley was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hiking and gardening. He played the harmonica, enjoyed polka dancing, was a Boy Scout leader achieving the Order of The Arrow award, and was a wild mushroom gatherer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children and their spouses, Richard and Caroline Szulanczyk, of Narvon, Tom and Kris Szulanczyk, of Lewisburg, Monica and Jeffery VanSickle, of Lewisburg, and Judy and Bill Madea, of Jim Thorpe; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends and relatives will be received from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church, Lewisburg, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Msgr. William M. Richardson as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the Lewisburg Cemetery. Military services will be by the Lewisburg area veterans.
The family will provide flowers and asks that donations in Stanley's memory be made to the Sacred Heart Church, 41 S. Eighth St., Lewisburg, PA 17837.
Funeral arrangements are by the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg.
