Shirley F. Harner, 82, of Danville, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, after her struggle with congestive heart failure.
She was born Jan. 10, 1935, a daughter of the late Nevin and Dorothy Schaeffer, of Lewisburg.
Shirley grew up in Woodward, the youngest of four children, Lee Schaeffer, Harold Schaeffer and Kathryn Schaeffer and attended school there.
On Jan. 27, 1957, she married William K. Harner, of Danville, and spent 51 happy years together until his passing in November of 2008.
Early in their marriage Shirley took a job in shoe manufacturing in Milton where she worked for approximately three years only later to became a full time housewife and to raise her family.
Shirley and her family were devoted long-time parishioners of the Revival Tabernacle Church of West Milton and later attended the Assembly of God Church in Milton.
Shirley enjoyed spending time singing gospel music and gardening around her home while sharing activity time with her family.
She is survived by five children, Sandy Slade Lumberton, of Mississippi, Terina Acy, of Danville, Christine Phillips, of Danville, William Harner Jr., of Columbus, Miss., and Paul Harner, of Danville; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday at God's Missionary Church, 502 E. Front St., Danville, with the Rev. Nathen Yohe officiating.
