Shirley J. Hans, 74, of Pleasant View Road, New Columbia, passed away on Oct. 3, 2017, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born Nov. 4, 1942, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late Carson and Elsie (Wagner) Middleswarth. On Aug. 14, 1961, she married Richard L. Hans who survives.
Shirley was a 1960 graduate of Milton High School.
She worked as a seamstress at Shroyer's Dress factory before retiring from NQ2 in Mifflinburg. After retirement Shirley worked at Country Cupboard, Lewisburg.
Shirley liked to cook and bake, have campfires and make mountain pies. She especially loved to spend time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard L. Jr. and Cathleen Hans, of Warren, Ohio; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Ken Wolfe and Angela and Daniel Griffin, all of New Columbia, and Mindy Hans and Dan Falatko, of New York, N.Y.; two brothers, Carson Middleswarth Jr., of Milton, and William Middleswarth, of Montgomery; four grandchildren, Malissa, Ryan, Kaley, and Jenelle; and two great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Conner.
Shirley was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Robert Middleswarth; and one sister, Betty Shuman.
Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. Gretchen Johanson officiating.
