On May 2, 2017, at 7:45 p.m., Shirley Bowman was welcomed to Heaven by her Lord Jesus.
She was born in Hummels Wharf on Oct. 4, 1933, to the late Marlin and Marcella Fox.
She graduated from Selinsgrove High School in 1951.
Shirley was last employed at the Selinsgrove Center in accounting. She was a Mary Kay consultant and also enjoyed working as a Premier Jewelry representative making many friends and long-lasting relationships. Friends were important to her and she enjoyed her time with them. Her neighbors Rick Long and Cindy Kistler were a great blessing to her.
Shirley enjoyed traveling to the Holy Land, Europe, Hawaii, the Caribbean Islands, and many other locations. Teaching children God's Word was a priority, Sunday school, and Good News Clubs were important. Although Shirley never had children of her own, she was a "spiritual mother" to many. Her nieces and nephews were her pride and joy.
Love of the Lord was the focus of her life. She attended church faithfully and most recently Oaklyn Independent Baptist Church. Reading was her hobby. Her library is filled with Christian literature.
Shirley is survived by her sisters, Betty Kratzer, Nancy Ermert, both of Shamokin Dam, and Carol (Willard) Dreese, of Winfield; nieces and nephews, Desiree (Harvey) Kramer, Jonathan Kratzer, William (Lori) Ermert, Jim (Marie) Ermert, Matt Dreese, Steve (Morgan) Dreese; and many great-nieces and nephews. Her much loved Kitty Cat misses her dearly.
Shirley was preceded in death by brother-in-laws, John Kratzer and Wilmer "Hap" Ermert.
Family and friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, followed by the funeral at 2, with Pastor Roy Clippinger, assisted by Pastor Eric Michael, officiating.
A time of fellowship will follow at the Shamokin Dam Alliance Church, Alliance Way off Stettler Avenue.
