Shirley's Story

Shirley E. Bollinger, 80, of Mount Pleasant Mills, entered into rest on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at the Richfield Senior Living & Rehabilitation Center, Richfield. She was the wife of the late William H. "Bill" Bollinger who preceded her in death on June 12, 2005.

Shirley was born on Sept. 28, 1936, in Perry County, a daughter of the late Delvin and Helen (Mitten) Benner. She retired in 1997 from Susquehanna University where she worked in housekeeping and was previously employed at the former Valsing's Jewelery Store, Selinsgrove.

Shirley was a member of Aline United Methodist Church, Mount Pleasant Mills and also attended St. Paul's U.C.C at Verdilla and St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Freeburg. In her younger years, she was involved with the Snyder County 4-H Club.

Shirley faithfully attended the Selinsgrove Senior Center.

She enjoyed flowers, reading, cooking and baking and was known for her sticky buns and coconut cream pies, and shopping on QVC. Shirley loved her dogs "Angel" and "Chrissy"

She is survived by her four daughters, Angela A. Cluck and her husband Albert "Jay", of Richfield, Debbie K. Brosius and her husband Larry, of Mount Pleasant Mills, Sherry L. Baugher and her husband Jonathan, of McAlisterville, and Janine R. Haertter and her companion Charles Newman, of Sunbury; three grandchildren, Scott E. Cluck, Lacy J. Beverlin, and Chelsey Baugher; three great-grandchildren, Allen J. Cluck, Sierra Engle, and Landon Engle; two step-grandchildren, Michael Brosius and Deb Portzline; six brothers and sisters, James Benner and his wife Barbara, of Thompsontown, Robert Benner and his wife Bonnie, of Mifflin, Sara Leach and her husband Robert, of Middleburg, Donna Lauver and her husband Gary, of Freeburg, Charlene Bailey and her husband Maynard, of Middleburg, and John Benner and his wife Kay, of Liverpool; a sister-in-law, Judy Benner, of Thompsontown; two aunts, Audrey Holley, of New Bloomfield and Mary Emma Wendt, of Newport; and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by two sons, William A. Bollinger and Randy L. Bollinger; a grandson, Travis Brosius; a sister, Nancy Bolton; and two brothers, William Benner and Dennis Benner in infancy.

Friends and family are invited to the viewing on Monday, April 10, 2017, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills. Officiating will be Pastor Debra Dailey.

Burial will be in Aline Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Mills.
