Ruth's Story

Ruth E. Patterson, 78, of Watsontown, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at the Watsontown Health and Rehab where she had been residing the past few days.
She was born Sept. 4, 1938, in Watsontown, a daughter of the late Earl L. Sr. and Margaret P. (Lehman) Gresh. She was married to Roy E. English who preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1968. On Aug. 20, 1971, she married Larry R. Patterson and they celebrated 42 years of marriage until his death on April 20, 2014.

Ruth was a 1955 graduate of Watsontown High School.
She was a secretary for the Watsontown Brick Company for more than 38 years. Most recently she was working for Pardoe's Peanuts in Montandon.
She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Watsontown and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Muffly Huff VFW Post 8206, Turbotville.
Ruth enjoyed watching sports programs, especially the New York Yankees.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Todd D. English and his fiance, Cynthia Shoemaker, of Selinsgrove, and Barry L. and Cindy English, of Turbotville; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Jacob N. Gresh, of Watsontown; and two sisters, Thelma A. Ernst, of Watsontown and Roselee M. Patton, of Turbotville.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Reuben E. English in 2016; one stepdaughter, Barbara in 2017; and one brother, Earl L. Gresh Jr. in 1997.

Friends and family are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Brooks Funeral Home and Cremation Svc, PC, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville, followed by the funeral at 11, with her pastor, the Rev. James Fladland, officiating.
Burial will follow in Presbyterian Cemetery, McEwensville.
