On Monday, May 29, 2017, at 9:11 a.m., Richard Allen "Rick" Sinko, 50, of Northumberland, was finally lifted to Heaven and relieved of his courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his beloved family and friends.
Rick was born Dec. 7, 1966, at the Sunbury Community Hospital, the better looking of the twins, to Donna (Rice) Dunkle and Allen "Butch" Sinko. On May 25, 2013, he married Michelle Suhovsky and began the many chapters of the love story of his life. The love they shared is unbreakable by time or space. His life was as enormous as his smile, filled with joy and accomplishments, the best of which were his children and grandchildren.
He had many passions. Firefighting, HVAC, cooking, dancing, roller skating, and genuinely making people happy. His final career and passion of cooking was allowed to him at Bot's Tavern in Selinsgrove, where he made many forever friends. He loved to bring a smile or some peace to every person that he met. He was known as a guy that would "give the shirt off his back" and a smile that lit up a room and was never to be forgotten. He was and always will be loved tremendously by his wife, children, and many friends.
Along with his parents and wife, Michelle, he is survived by his son, Ren Sinko and wife Eryn, and their daughters, Alexah-Jo and Sydney; daughter, Kayla English and husband Kale, and their daughters, Tasiana and Kaelyn; stepson, Joseph Miller, and the special Arielle Suhovsky and partner Kevin Stauffer; brothers, Michael Hummel and his wife Jean, of Sunbury, and Robert and wife Sherry, of Harrisburg; sister-in-law, Denise Carroll and her husband and Rick's bromance, Charles, of Northumberland; sister-in-law, Stephanie Sterner and her husband William, of Sunbury; his grandchildren, Colby, Kaylee, Dalton, and KyAnn Frits, of Sunbury and their mother, Christy Mordan; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Finally some VERY special friends, Garet Turner, Andrea Gebhart, and Tara McKenna Olin who aided him tremendously throughout his journey, right up to the end.
He was preceded in death by some very special folks he was happy to meet again, Andrew Frits Jr. his grandson; Lois Wintersteen, his grandmother; his mentors, Jug Poff and Barney Neff; and his very best friend ever; Clayton "Jumbo" Burns.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, followed by a memorial service at 7:30, with Pastor Mark Gittens officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rick Sinko Memorial Fund at FNB Bank, 11 S. Second St., Sunbury, PA 17801, to help the family to defray funeral and medical expenses.
