The family of Richard Edwin Phillips, 80, of Sunbury, sadly announces his passing on Thursday, June 29, 2017, after a long struggle with heart disease.
Known to many as "Pappy Dick," he will be lovingly remembered by his mother and stepfather, Minnie and Lou Seibert; his companion, Bonnie Hunt; son, Dale; daughters and sons-in-law, Patty and Rick Troutman, Lori and Corey Renn, Carol and Robert Kramer, Anita and John Sardo, and Lisa and Duane Erdman; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Also, he is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Mark Mattern and Betty and John Long; and a half-sister and her husband, Cindy and Hershel Baker.
He was predeceased by his sister, Leona Wert.
Dick worked for Sunbury Motor Company as a master craftsman for much of his career. He was highly skilled in masonry and carpentry. He often pleased his children and grandchildren with gifts of homemade furniture and keepsake chests. Dick always loved the outdoors, particularly hunting, fishing, and tooling with old tractors. After retirement, he enjoyed spending more time with family and friends.
A visitation service will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.
