Raymond J. "Bud" Forrey, 85, formerly of Ninth Street, Northumberland, passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland, where he had been a resident.
He was born Dec. 12, 1930, at home in Northumberland, a son of the late James "Pop" and Myrtle (Ulrich) Forrey. In 1956, he married the former Gloria S. Trotto who preceded him in death on Nov. 18, 2014.
Bud was drafted while still in high school on Sept. 11, 1950 and served with the Army during the Korean War. He was honorable discharged on Aug. 2, 1952.
For many years Bud and Gloria were employed at the Rea & Derick warehouse in Northumberland until its closing forced their retirement.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 44 and attended St. Monica Catholic Church, Sunbury.
Bud enjoyed painting and had a talent for creating picture frames. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as making and repairing fishing rods and lures.
He is survived by his sister, Amelia Wiand, of Sunbury; three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Mary V. and Joseph L. Baslick, of Northumberland, Teresa S. Trotto, of Milton, and Sheila M. Trotto, of Northumberland; and his many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one nephew, Joseph L. Baslick II; brother-in-law, A. Thomas Trotto; and sister-in-law, Margaret L.Trotto.
Friends and family may call from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland with Father Fred Wangwe AJ officiating.
Burial with military honors accorded by the American Legion Post 44 will be in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland.
