Patricia A. (Cowder) Smeal, 77, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, at the Reading Hospital.
She was born in Lock Haven, a daughter of the late Otis W. and Wilma L. (Hendershot) Cowder. She was the beloved wife of Ronald L. Smeal whom she married March 22, 1958.
Patricia was a graduate of Lock Haven High School and State Beauty School, Williamsport, where she received her cosmetology license.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a member of the Gideon's Auxiliary for more than 50 years, serving as state president and many other offices.
Patricia dedicated her life to taking care of her family. She was very creative and could sew, quilt, cook and loved making things for her family.
In addition to her husband, she is surived by four children and their spouses, Kemp L. Smeal, of Los Angeles, Calif., Amy K. and Kevin N. Fazler Sr., of Watsontown, Christopher D. and Isabel M. Smeal, of Spotsylvania, Va., and Leslie A. and Ardath E. Colbert, of Chicago, Ill., one brother and sister-in-law, David and Carol Cowder, of Lock Haven; sister-in-law, Alice Cowder, N.M.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by an infant daughter, Joellyn Smeal; and one brother, Leo Cowder, husband of Alice Cowder.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church, 510 Park Ave., Reading, followed by the funeral at 10.
Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Mausoleum, 1194 Mackeyville Road, Mill Hall.
