Nancy's Story

Nancy Lou Heckman, 67, a lifelong resident of Swengel, most recently of 65 Cherry Alley, entered into rest at 10:42 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at her home.
She was born Dec. 11, 1949, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late Clair P. and Evelyn Irene (Boyer) Smith. On Sept. 12, 1970, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Mifflinburg, she married Donald M. Heckman who survives.

Nancy was a 1968 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.
She was employed in food service at the Mifflinburg Area School District for many years. Nancy also worked at various area sewing factories and helped raise her grandchildren.
Nancy enjoyed watching the entertainment at carnivals and fairs, and doing crossword puzzles. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 47 years, are two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy L. and Kevin R. Camp, of Middleburg, and Penny S. and Steven L. Hanselman, of Mifflinburg; one sister and brother-in-law, Patsy A. and Mervin Kline, of Swengel; one brother, Timothy P. Smith and his companion Heather Fultz, of McClure; and four grandchildren, Colin and Logan Camp, and Chloe and Austin Hanselman.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy A. Heckman; and one brother, Ricky C. Smith.

Family and friends are welcome from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Roupp Funeral Home Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, followed by the funeral at 1, with her brother-in-law, William Heckman, officiating.
Burial will be in the Old Cedars Cemetery, Swengel.
