Myron E. Messinger, 73, of Red Hill Rd., Milton, passed away on Oct. 27, 2016, at his home.

He was born Jan. 7, 1943, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Joseph and M. Naomi (Cotner) Messinger. He was married on March 30, 1963, to the former Anna K. "Kay" Heddings, who survives.

Myron was a 1960 graduate of Milton High School and worked as a letter carrier for the Milton Post Office.

He served in the Marine Corps.

Myron was a member of Montandon United Methodist Church. He was also a life member of the Turbot Township Fire Co., served on the planning commission of Turbot Township, was the Emergency Management Agency director of Turbot Township for over 20 years, and served as a forest warden for 37 years. He was a member of the Watsontown American Legion. Myron was involved with Friends of the Park, who helped improve the Milton State Park and was involved with Boy Scout Troop 607 in Milton.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and working on Jeeps.

He is survived by his wife Kay; two daughters and one son-in-law, Vicki Hunt, of Northumberland, and Patti and Gene Vanatta, of Watsontown; one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Linda Messinger, of New Columbia; one sister, Lorraine Miller, of Arkansas; one brother, Malcolm Messinger, of Milton; six grandchildren, Erik Messinger, Cody Messinger, Josh Vanatta, Casey Vanatta, Brandon Hunt, and Emily Armstrong; and four great-grandchildren.

Myron was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Marvin Messinger; one brother-in-law, Donald Miller; and one sister-in-law, Patricia Messinger.

Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Montandon United Methodist Church, Main St., Montandon, followed by the memorial service with Pastor Joan Dodson officiating.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

The family will provide flowers and ask that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Montandon United Methodist Church.
