Mildred G. Moyer, 81, of Moyer Road, Turbotville, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2017, peacefully at home with her husband and family at her side.
She was born Oct. 8, 1935, the eldest daughter of the late Clayton and Sarah (Gehman) Derstine. On May 12, 1956, she married J. Laverne Moyer and together they would have celebrated 61 years of marriage this May.
Mildred was a member of East District Mennonite Church, where earlier in life, she taught kindergarten Sunday school.
She was a homemaker, dedicated to her husband and family. She helped manage and do the bookkeeping for their family farming operations. Mildred enjoyed serving others and spending time with family, and each new birth was a celebration, and holding babies brought her joy.
She treasured her time traveling with her husband, making the annual trip to Colorado each fall for hunting. Mildred always kept detailed records of their travels and family events. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and making photo albums with her daughter.
In addition to her husband, Mildred is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Phil and Crystal Moyer, Tim and Wanda Moyer, and Dan and Shirlene Moyer, all of Turbotville; four daughters and sons-in-law, Tim and Linda Stoltzfus, of Lewisburg, Paul and Brenda Schmidt, of Watsontown, Ed and Judy Derstine, of Turbotville, and Jack and Jolene Fiedler, of Watsontown; 32 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 12 siblings.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Renita Gail Derstine.
Friends are invited to call from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, followed by the funeral at 3, at East District Mennonite Church, 71 E. District Road, Watsontown, with Pastor Tim Stoltzfus officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
