Meredith E. "Pete" Keiser, 92, of Paradise Street, Turbotville, passed away on Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
He was born March 23, 1924, in Turbotville, a son of the late Earl C. and Hazel Mae (Heintzelman) Keiser. Pete married the former Martha E. "Mart" Derr, and celebrated 57 years of marriage until her death on Aug. 29, 2004.
Pete was a veteran of the Army during World War II serving over in Germany.
He was employed by Turbotville Borough for more than 35 years.
He was a life member of the Turbotville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8206 and 72-year member of the Muncy American Legion Post 268. He was a life member of Six-County Firemen's Association, and a member of Warrior Run Fire Department and the 40 & 8 of Highland Lake.
Pete enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford "Chuck" and Donna Keiser, of Turbotville, and Rodney and Victoria Keiser, of Allenwood; two daughters and one son-in-law, Rosemary Day and Barbara and James Nicohlas, all of Turbotville; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Harold Keiser, of Watsontown; and one sister, Harriet Getz, of Clarkstown.
He was preceded in death by one son, Charles M. Keiser; four brothers, Earl B., Hoyt H., Glenn C., and Cleon C. Keiser; and one sister, Klea Bernard.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Erwin C. Roux of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in Turbotville Cemetery, with full military honors from combined veteran organizations.
