Text size

Matthew Allen Mills, 29, of Sunbury, passed away at 11:50 a.m. on Sept. 30, 2017, at Geisinger Medical Center.
He was born June 6, 1988, in Sunbury.
Matthew was a 2006 graduate of Shikellamy High School. In 2009, Matthew joined the Air Force and was stationed in Valdosta, Ga., at Moody AFB. After receiving an honorable discharge in 2012, Matthew began employment with Bastian Tire and Auto Sales, having worked in both the Shamokin Dam and Lewisburg locations. Matthew was recently pursuing his degree in criminal justice with Southern New Hampshire University online.

Matthew had a zest for life and enjoyed making people laugh. He was able to make complete strangers feel as though they had known him forever. He was a regular volunteer with Sunbury Youth Baseball and Shikellamy Youth Wrestling and was commonly stopped when out by calls of "Coach Matt!" by the children he worked with. In his spare time Matthew enjoyed playing video games with his sons and spending time with his many family and friends. Matthew's final act on this earth was to save the lives of five people through the gift of organ donation.

Matthew is survived by his wife, Erin N. Mills; two sons, Aiden M. and Wyatt D. Mills; his mother, Jodi cook and her husband Ken; his stepfather, Daniel Ackley; his father, Allen Mills; five brothers, Jonathon Kreiser, Dustin Kreiser, Joseph Mills and his wife Jennifer, Westley Mills and his wife Sarah, and Marc Mills; two sisters, Jackie Mills and McKayla Mills; grandfather, Kenneth Boyer; grandmothers, Linda Boyer and Carrie Fenninger; father-in-law, Steven Seal and his wife Marlene; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.
Matthew was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Brenda Seal.

A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Revival Tabernacle Church, 960 Susquehanna Trail, Watsontown, followed by a memorial service at 11.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Matthew's memory be made to BB&T Bank to "Mathew Mills Memorial Fund care of Erin Mills" to benefit his sons Aiden and Wyatt.
