Mary Golda Ludwig, 90, formerly of Isle of Que, Selinsgrove, made her final journey to Paradise Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Penn View Manor Nursing Home, where she resided for several years.
She was born Aug. 21, 1926, in Fort Smith, Ark., a daughter of the late Golda and Rupert Lafayette Nixon. She became the child bride of Robert E. Ludwig of Selinsgrove while he was stationed at Fort Smith during World War II, and he preceded her in death in July of 1999, after a marital union of 57 years.
Mary worked for a number of years for J.G. Ott in Selinsgrove. Later she was a waitress for two years at the Blue Hill Restaurant, and for an additional 17 years after it became Tedd's Landing. Later still she worked with her friend Mary Lou Herr making custom draperies for residential and commercial clients in the area.
She enjoyed wintering in Florida and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, William A. Ludwig, of Selinsgrove, and Randall "Gus" Ludwig and his wife Bonnie, of Lewisburg; five grandchildren, Debra Faust and husband James, Patrick Ludwig and wife Pamela, Carolyn DePack and husband Richard, Alison Bender and husband Tony, and W. Cody Ludwig; 13 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Smith and Faye Standridge; two brothers, Lane and Albert Nixon; one son, James R, Ludwig; one granddaughter, Catherine Ludwig; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Victory Baptist Church, Park Road, Hummels Wharf.
Arrangements are by the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.
