Marlene D. Westlund, 84, peacefully passed away at home, listening to the birds and with family by her side, on July 1, 2017 in Middleburg.
She was the daughter of Hilda and Irwin Jorgensen of Berkeley, Calif.
She is survived by her loving husband, Carlyle Westlund; brother, Burnie Jorgensen, Southern Calif.; daughters, Dr. Kristene Whitmore, of Philadelphia, and Kolene Stambaugh, New Cumberland; sons, Scott Emmerich, of El Paso, Texas, and Dan Hall, Index, Wash.; grandson, Chawne Stambaugh, of Santa Monica, Calif.; and stepdaughter, Amanda Westlund, Dallastown.
Her experience as an Arthur Murray ballroom dance instructor led to regular sightings at various dance clubs with her husband. They loved to travel and shared a passion for gardening and bird watching. She enjoyed cooking and crafts. She was extremely creative with picture, quilt, and floral design.
Marlene was a little shy but warm and friendly once people got to know her. She was easy to love and expressed much love in return. Her meticulous detail to dress and makeup made her stand out at dances and made me (Carlyle) very proud. Her talents were many and she made our house a home.
A celebration of Marlene's life will be held at later date.
Arrangements are by the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg.
