Mark A. Woodland, 84, of McEwensville, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born May 19, 1932, in Kingston, a son of the late William and Gertrude (Grosser) Woodland. He was married to the former Susan Walter, who survives. His death breaks a marital union of 35 years.
Mark was a 1950 graduate of Milton High School and a 1957 graduate of Millersville State Teachers College.
He was a teacher in Milton Junior High School and Warrior Run High School, teaching metal shop, welding, drafting and automotive. He retired in 1988 after 32 years.
He had served in the US Air Force as an airplane instrument specialist.
He was a member of the F & AM Lodge 256 in Milton, the American Legion Post 323 in Watsontown, and the Susquehanna Valley Radio Control Club.
Mark was a lifetime enthusiast of aviation. He built and flew model airplanes since childhood. He loved camping and boating with his family.
He is survived by four children, Mark E. Woodland, of York, Stacie Ferguson, of Dewart, Michael T. Woodland and his companion, Megan Peck, of Austin, Texas, and Christina Bardo and her husband, Richard Bardo Jr., of Orangeville; three grandchildren, Wesley Woodland, Amy Machesic, and Lyla Woodland; and one great-grandchild, Maxwell Wolfe Machesic.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Lou Woodland; and one brother, Bill Woodland.
Friends and relatives will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the McEwensville Community Hall. A Masonic service will begin at 7 followed by military honors by the Watsontown Legion.
Arrangements are under the care of the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton.
