Marilyn Elizabeth Hyle, 86, of Manor Care Rehabilitation Home, Fort Myers, Fla., passed away on April 6, 2017, due to natural causes.
She was born March 29, 1931, in Lewistown, Pa., a daughter of the late Gifford W. and Mary R. (Thomas) Thompson. On June 5, 1954, in Lewistown, she married Robert E. Hyle, of Altoona, who survives. Her death breaks a marital union of 63 years.
Marilyn was a graduate of Susquehanna University earning a bachelor's degree.
She had lived in Mifflinburg and Lewisburg, Pa., before moving to Florida in July of 2013.
Marilyn was employed by Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg for more than 15 years as a secretary to the director of nursing.
She was a Red Cross disaster volunteer.
Marilyn loved to travel and volunteer, and enjoyed her two miniature Schnauzers, Bridgett and Becka.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Debbie Lutz, of Yardley, Pa.; one granddaughter, Jenna Montone and her husband, Dennis, of Fort Myers; and one great-granddaughter, Arden, of Fort Myers.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Gifford Thompson Jr.
A memorial service is planned for a later date in Lewisburg and will be announced by the family.
Arrangements are by the Hodges Kiser Funeral Home, Fort Myers.
