Marie A. Adams, 98, a longtime resident of Danville, passed away at Emmanuel Nursing Center at Maria Joseph, in Danville, on Sept. 3, 2016, where she had been a guest since May 2015.
She was born March 19, 1918, in Berwick, a daughter of the late Lester and Jennie (Bauer) Deitrick. Marie was married to George Adams Sr., who preceded her in death in 1984.
Marie was a resident of Danville since the age of one, and after graduating from Danville High School in 1936, Marie enrolled in the Pennsylvania State Registered Nursing program. After completing her training in Philadelphia and receiving her R.N. license, she was employed at the Danville State Hospital her entire working career, retiring in the mid-70s.
Marie was a lifelong member of Pine Street Evangelical Lutheran Church, Danville.
Marie is survived by her son, Dr. George Adams Jr., his wife, Judith Yohn Adams, and two grandchildren, Amy Y and Robin Y. Adams, all of Danville.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Craig, Dorothy Hess, and Margaret Lutz; and two brothers, Leroy and Walter Deitrick.
In accordance with Marie's wishes, private services were held, followed by interment at Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg.
