Macy's Story

Macy Clyde Minnier, 43, of 2065 Brush Valley Road, Sunbury, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his family, on Monday evening, June 5, 2017.
He was born July 18, 1973, in Danville, a son of Norman E. and Kathy M. (Kerstetter) Minnier. He was married for 20 years to his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Amy Whyne Minnier. They were married on Aug. 10, 1996.

Macy graduated from Northumberland Christian School in 1992. He received his bachelor of science degree from Shippensburg University in 1995 and his master's degree in education from Bloomsburg University.
Macy was employed as a math teacher for Shikellamy School District for 12 years where he was also a basketball coach and the advisor for Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He was previously employed as a teacher at Northumberland Christian School for one year, Bel Air High School in Maryland for three years as well as Millersburg High School for five years. He was well known by his students for teaching and coaching from his heart, not the book.
He was the Coordinator for the Ivy League Boys and Girls Basketball.
Macy made a difference in the lives of everyone he crossed paths with. He will be most remembered by his selfless life, always thinking and caring for everyone else first and foremost. To his family, friends and students, he was a champion throughout his illness which was noteworthy through the Miles for Macy Charity Walk for the past two years at Shikellamy High School. At the end of each day, he lived his life for his Lord, his wife, his children and his family whom he adored.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by one son, Nathan J., and two daughters, Melanie G. and Allison M., all at home; one brother and sister-in-law, Matthew T. and Deborah Minnier, of Northumberland; one sister and brother-in-law, Mindy N. and Justin DePinto, of Sunbury; sister-in-law, Jessica L. Lahr and her husband Heath, of Sunbury; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, James T. and Carol L. Whyne of Sunbury PA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Macy's life to be held at noon Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Lewisburg Alliance Church, 137 Supplee Mill Road, Lewisburg, with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Rubens Ruba officiating and assisted by Macy's close friend, the Rev. Chad Brewer of Irvine, Calif. Friends will be received from 9 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
