M. Jean Weikel, 92, of Stage Road, Bannerville, passed away early on Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at her home.
She was born on Jan. 20, 1924, in Lockport, a daughter of the late Clyde P. and S. Margaret (Pecht) Lyter. She was married to Calvin Weikel who preceded her in death.
Jean attended Lewistown High School.
She had previously been employed as a seamstress at the Arrow Shirt Factory in Lewistown until her retirement.
Jean was a past member of Baker's EUB Church in McClure where she was also a past Sunday School teacher.
She was also a member of the American Legion Post 942 Ladies Auxiliary. In her sparetime she loved playing bingo at the Bannerville Fire Company and the Lewistown Moose. She also enjoyed doing plastic canvas crafts, puzzle books and camping.
Surviving are her brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne H. and Virgie L. Lyter, of Sanderson Fla., and Earl W. and Margaret A. Lyter, of Beaver Springs; two sisters, Grace H. Wieder, of Lowman, N.Y. and Audrey K. Ritter, of Hummelstown; two grandchildren, Clyde Weikel and Todd Weikel; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Linda; her companion of 19 years, Harold R. Wright and his children, Robert P. Wright, Maxine C. King, Mary R. Ettinger and Ethel M. Lloyd; one granddaughter whom he raised, Carolyn J. Wright; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her two sons, Clyde Weikel and Kenneth Weikel; one brother and sister-in-law, C. Maurice Lyter and his wife Natalie; and two brothers-in-law, O. Robert Ritter and Richard O. Wieder.
Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, at the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, where the funeral will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lisa Schuster officiating.
