Lorraine "Dolly" Yoder, 85, of Coal Township, passed away on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was a lifelong resident of the Shamokin-Coal Township area.
She was born Dec. 5, 1931, in Coal Township, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Gobbo) Yurick. On Aug. 16, 1952, in St. Joseph Church, Coal Township, she married Gil Yoder who survives.
She was a graduate of the Coal Township High School.
Dolly was a member of the former St. Joseph Church, now Our Lady of Hope Church, Coal Township.
She was employed by Arrow/Cluet Peabody and also worked as a waitress at the hotel Penn-Lee and the Madison Hotel.
Dolly loved gardening and spending time with her family and grandchildren and antiquing with her two daughters. She was always ready for a day trip to Shady Maple.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Sandra Strauser and her husband Greg and Lori Ann Monaghan and her husband Mark; and two grandchildren, Kyla and Lauren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Rita Mae, Mary and Irene; three brothers, Theodore, Francis and James; and her grandson, Michael Monaghan.
A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at Our Lady of Hope Church, Coal Township, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 with Father Steven Frenier as celebrant.
Burial will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Coal Township.
The Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home, Ltd., 120 S. Market St., Shamokin, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
