Lester "Dean" Sampsell, 51, of 938 W. Market St., Trevorton, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at his residence. He was in ill health for the past two years.
He was born June 7, 1966, in Lewisburg, a son of Charlotte (Heimbach) Bowersox and husband Wally, of Winfield, and the late Lester Sampsell. On June 16, 2011, in Sunbury,, he married the former Barbara Ebersole who survives.
Dean was a graduate of Selinsgrove High School.
He was employed as an engineer at National Beef Packing, Hummels Wharf.
Dean enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, fishing, hunting, and computers.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by six children, Keri Morgan and husband Andrew, Kim Lesher and fiancé Jordan Shingara, Kaleb Portzline, Kerstin Sampsell, Dustin Sampsell, Justin Sampsell; five grandchildren, Jordan Shingara Jr., Belle Morgan, Cam Morgan, Kinsley Shingara (To be born Aug. 30), Piper Sampsell; three brothers, Ken Sampsell, Mike Bowersox, Dwayne Bowersox; two sisters, Belinda Shrawder, Cris Delosier; father-in-law, John Ebersole and companion Caroline Chamberlin; mother-in-law, Carol Reed; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents; an infant brother; and several aunts and uncles.
A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, followed by the funeral at 11, with Pastor Jim Behrens officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Trevorton.
