Lee E. Rhodes, 73, of 223 N. Second St., Sunbury, passed away at his home on June 22, 2017.
He was born June 25, 1943, a son of the late Lee E. and Amy R. (Britton) Rhodes. He was married to the former Joan L. Crawford who preceded him in death.
Lee began his working career as a tree trimmer and soon was employed by the Paulson Wire Rope Company as a splicer. During his more than 30 years of faithful service he became a supervisor and later retired at the plant's closing.
Lee was an outdoorsman. He had a passion for all things in nature, fishing, hunting, camping, guns, four-wheeling and spending time at the cabin. Lee was a volunteer fire fighter with the Sunbury Steam Fire Company No. 1. He was a NASCAR fan, especially of Richard Petty.
He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Connie S. and Bill Brown, of Sunbury, Brenda L. Rhodes, of Sunbury, and Leigh Ann and Brett Reichner, of Paxinos; eight grandchildren, Nina Reichner, Alexis Reichner, Naomi Hunt, William Brown, Nick Brown, Firman Abdill, Robert Deppen, and Anthony Deppen; 11 great-grandchildren; long time companion, Mary C. White; four stepchildren, Karl A. White, Michelle and husband Benton Michael, Todd and wife Julie White, and Mark White; six stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
Friends and family may visit from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home Inc., 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury, where the funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, with Kurt Francis, staff pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
