Kalliopi Somis, 80, of Parkton, Md., died early Friday morning, June 24, 2016, after a prolonged illness in her home surrounded by her family.
She was born Nov. 7, 1935, in Zoni, Greece, the daughter of the late George and Stavroula Gaitanakis.
She and her husband, Konstantinos Somis who passed away in September of 2008, were married for 46 years.
She was a partner in the House of Pizza restaurant in Lewisburg from 1970 to 2005. Mrs. Somis was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Camp Hill.
Her love of family, times spent around the table with family and friends, and her strong belief in God sustained her throughout her life. Her laughter was contagious, her singing uplifting, and her dedication to family was truly inspiring.
She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Aristedes and Julie Somis, of Baltimore, Md., and George Somis, of Providence, R.I.; a granddaughter, Kalliopi Somis; brother-in-law, George Somis, of Lewisburg; sister-in-law, Georgina Fokas, of Lancaster. Kalliopi was the oldest of six children, having three sisters and two brothers, all of whom reside in Greece.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1000 Yverdon Drive, Camp Hill, followed by a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. at the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg, with a prayer service at 2.
Burial will be in the Lewisburg Cemetery, followed by a luncheon.
