Jerry's Story

Jerry K. Lawrence, 76, of 171 Lahr Road, Sunbury, died Thursday, July 27, 2017, in the comforts of his home and surrounded by his family.

He was born May 14, 1941, and raised in Sunbury, a son of the late Robert Lawrence and Mildred (Kline) Lawrence. He and his wife, Naomi (Lahr) Lawrence, just celebrated 52 years of marriage on July 18, 2017.

He attended Sunbury High School. Prior to finishing school, he enlisted in the service for six years to the Army National Guard where he received his honorable discharge in 1969.

During his time as a reservist, his civilian occupation was cable repairman for B.K.P. Television Systems, Inc., Sunbury. He worked a number of years in the construction/masonry business with his father, Robert, brother, Jay, and brother-in-law, Larry Dockey. He retired from Service Electric Cablevision, Sunbury in 2003.

Following retirement, you could find Jerry in his workshop where he spent countless hours tinkering on his wood working projects or spending time with his wife, children and doting on his grandchildren whom he loved deeply.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 201, Sunbury, and a member of the Mountain Presbyterian Church, Sunbury.

He leaves behind three children, Keith A. Lawrence, at home, Audrey Lawrence Dunkelberger and fiance Richard L. Bobkoskie Jr., of Overlook, and Jamie Lawrence Kreider and fiance Richard A. Finkenbiner, of Lewisburg; and three grandchildren, Graydon T. Dunkelberger, Jadyn S. Dunkelberger and Dawson L. Kreider. He is further survived by two brothers, Robert Lawrence and Terry L. Lawrence, both of Sunbury; and two sisters, Alice M. Dyer and her husband David Dyer, of Elysburg, and Carol A. Bradigan and her husband Robert Bradigan, of Dornsife.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, James Lawrence, Jay Lawrence, Paul Lawrence, and Raymond Lawrence.

A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Mountain Presbyterian Church in Lower Augusta Township, followed by the funeral service at 11.

Burial will be with full military honors in the adjoining church cemetery.
