Janice Marie Cohen, 78, of Williamsport, died peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017.
She was born Sept. 26, 1938, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Raldo E. and D. Helen (Heim) Shipman.
?Janice is survived by her husband, George; son, Daniel Cohen; daughter, Melinda Donegan, and sisters, Theresa Beers and Merdyth Updegraff.
?She graduated from Bucknell University in 1960. She married George Cohen on Aug. 4, 1962. They first met at Bucknell Band Camp. He was a scared freshman; she was a mature sophomore. The next school year, they started dating and were never apart from that day on. Their life together was a constant joy.
?Janice's life was dedicated to helping others. Janice moved to Williamsport in 1965 and she taught English in Montoursville. She maintained friendships with several former students from those days.
Janice continued to help people through her lifetime of volunteer work as well as her close relationships with her many friends. Janice was a member of the Junior League of Williamsport, the Williamsport Hospital Auxiliary, the Woman's Club, and was a long time member of the Williamsport Home Board of Directors, where she served as president for several years.
?The greatest joy of Janice's life was her family, son, Daniel, his wife, Andrea, and their daughters, Amanda and Danielle; daughter, Melinda and her husband Joe, all of whom rallied around to give Janice great comfort in her final days.
Janice will also be remembered by her sister-in-law, Beverly Strauss and husband Milton, as well as several nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Clarke Chapel at Lycoming College, 700 College Place, Williamsport, with the Rev. Andrew France officiating. Friends and family will be received from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are being handled by Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.
