James Clyde Watts, of Northumberland, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at his home.
He was born Oct. 11, 1919, in Philadelphia. On May 30, 1942, he maried the former Jane V. Klinger.
James was a 1938 graduate of Bloomsburg High School. He served in the Army from 1940-1947. While in the Army, he served as: Army Engineer in Fr. Belvoir, Virginia; administrative NCC S/Sgt.; May 1945 361st Fighter Squadron, England; and December 1945 4112th AAF BU until January 1947.
After serving in the Army he worked as a commercial electrician, in addition to having worked in several motor transit and textile companies including Speedway and Hall's. In 1984 James retired after 25 years with Rea & Derick Accounts Payable.
He was a member of the Post 44 Legion in Northumberland and was an avid baseball fan. He enjoyed rooting for the Philadelphia Phillies.
James is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Jane Viola (Klinger) Watts; two sons, Robert Watts and Richard Watts; daughter, Sharon (Watts) Middlesworth; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren. James was and still is a role model for five generations of family that loved and admired him for the way he lived his life as a devoted husband, father, and grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Klinger; aunt, Evelyn Ritter; and son-in-law, Reed Middlesworth.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Bethany Evangelical Church, 1001 Susquehanna Ave., Sunbury.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted by Bethany Evangelical Church and/or SUN Home Health & Hospice, 61 Duke St., Northumberland, PA 17857.
Arrangements are by the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 309 Water St., Northumberland.
