James P. Hoover, 63, of Sunbury, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at ManorCare, Sunbury.
He was born in Sunbury, a son of Helen "Peanut" Bolton, who survives, and the late Martin L. Nace.
James attended Shikellamy High School and entered the Marine Corps where he served during the Vietnam War.
He was employed by Weis Markets in maintenence and HasMat department.
He attended Victory Baptist Church, Shamokin Dam.
James was the kindest, gentilest soul to family and friends. He loved his Harley Davidson motorcycle and riding. He was a gun collector and an avid fisherman. He was a new grandfather with Baby Sam and had a special great-niece, whom he called little "Bucky".
He is survived by three children, Angie Hoover, of Sunbury, Michelle Hoover, of North Carolina, and Eric Hoover, of Lewisburg; one sister, Jamie Hoover, of North Caroliba; Aunt Peggy Bolton, of Sunbury; and dear friend, Timothy Perkins, of Sunbury; grandchildren, Justin Hoover, Liz, Bo, and Rowey Lynch, and baby Sam; two nieces; one nephew; and one great-niece.
He was preceeded in death by one son, James P. Hoover Jr., on May 8, 2006.
Friends will be received from 10 to 10:55 a.m. Monday at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home Inc., 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury, followed by funeral at 11.
Burial will be in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.
