The spirit of James Warren Green, 91, of Selinsgrove, ascended to Heaven on March 3, 2017.
He was born March 18, 1925, a son of the late Harry and Kathryn (Adams) Green.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marge (Hedricks) Green, and son, Jim Green.
Jim became a sergeant in the Army during World War II, serving in New Guinea and the Philippines and earning two Purple Hearts. Afterwards, he was a jet mechanic and a sheet metal mechanic at two military bases near Harrisburg, until noise-induced hearing loss forced him to change professions after which he excelled as a house painter. After retiring, he served as a caring 'papa' to housecats for the last 25 years and enjoyed giving advice to friends and relatives about house painting projects.
Jim and Marge lived in the Harrisburg area for almost 50 years before relocating to Selinsgrove in 2005.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews and was also a father to two girls, Dawn and Sherry, during his first marriage.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Green Geasey; half brother, Kenneth Kearney; and daughter, Patty Green.
Family and friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, followed by the funeral at 11.
Burial will be in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury, with military honors accorded by the Selinsgrove American Legion Post 25 and the V.F.W. Post 6631.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to the Danville SPCA, 2801 Bloom Road, Danville, PA 17821.
