James F. Beney, 75, formerly of Country Side Village, Selinsgrove, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.
He was born Aug. 21, 1941, in New York City, a son of the late Egbert J. and Edith M. (Beecher) Beney.
Jim was a 1961 graduate of Syosset High School and a graduate of Simmons School of Embalming and Mortuary Science, Syracuse, N.Y. He was a veteran serving in the Air Force.
As a licensed funeral director he was associated with the Beney Funeral Home in Syosset, N.Y. He later moved to New Berlin where he opened the Beney Funeral Home. He later retired from Wood Mode, Kreamer and following his retirement, he served as supervisor at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, Selinsgrove.
He was an active member of Bible Baptist Church, Kreamer, and was very active in the Selinsgrove Senior Center.
Jim faithfully read his Bible every day. His favorite pastime was woodworking and he enjoyed crafts and puzzles.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn M. and Brett Graf, of New Oxford, and Renee L. and Richard Schoonmaker, of Muncy; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn N. and Jordyn A. Graf, and Kylie A. and James R. Schoonmaker; one sister, Patricia A. Schuller, of Ashville, N.C.; and a special friend whom he considered a son, Dave Dillman.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Bible Baptist Church, Kreamer, followed by the funeral at 11, with Pastor Thomas Krampert officiating. Following the funeral, military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 25 and V.F.W. Post 6631, both of Selinsgrove,
Burial will be held on Monday in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
