Irvin Franklin Snyder Jr., 84, of 645 Mountain Road, Paxinos, passed away at 6:20 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the Golden Living Center, Sunbury. He had resided in Paxinos since 1976.
He was born Dec. 18, 1932, in Shamokin, a son of the late Irvin Franklin Sr. and Harriet L. (Otterson) Snyder. On July 7, 1956, at the Elysburg United Methodist Church, he married the former Marlene Ann Noll, who preceded him in death on May 9, 2008.
Irvin attended the Ralpho Township schools.
He served in the Air Force for 23 years in Korea, Vietnam and Thailand. After the service he ran the Shamokin Cycle Shop, for small engine repairs for many years.
Irvin was of the Protestant faith and was a life member of the Mount Carmel American Legion.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Irvin "Frank" III and Cindy Snyder, of Elysburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Barry Hamp, of Virginia Beach, Va.; four grandchildren, Melanie Guinter, Melissa Muraco, Frank Snyder, and David Madara; four great-grandchildren, Parker Guinter, Damien Madara, Peigton Madara and Corine Madara; and his cat, Simon.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cyndi Madara; and one son, Charles Snyder.
A visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Farrow Funeral Homes, Sixth and Chestnut streets, Shamokin, followed by the funeral at 1 p.m. Friday.
Burial will be in the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
